Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director serves as a member of the Office of Assessment & Technology (OAT) leadership team, and represents the Office on committees, initiatives, and projects. This position oversees and leads the Office’s Assessment area and supervises the area’s staff (which currently consists of a manager, four research analysts, a C-1 Contract, and one graduate assistants). The position sets the strategic direction of the Assessment Team and is responsible for the overall management of admissions, financial aid, and student enrollment data that are processed in the various student systems and housed in official data warehouses across the area of Enrollment Management (EM) and the university, and ensures all business processes that utilize these data are working accurately and as intended. This position oversees:
  • The day-to-day management of data requests, data quality control and assurance, and data fulfillment and compliances required by the Office, EM, campus constituents, and external university stakeholders.
  • The production of automated and ad hoc reports, the visual dashboard report library, the conducting of analyses (e.g. forecasting, longitudinal data analysis, and regressive and predictive modeling), the standardization of optimal logic for query writing and analysis, the production of clear documentation for the team’s reference, managing the data output requirements for EM systems and processes, and the official federal and state financial aid reporting requirements for the university.
  • Student enrollment reporting to the Department of Education.
  • The production, maintenance, and dissemination of surveys, and survey data analyses and reporting for strategic decision-making purposes.
  • Data requirements gathering, documentation, analysis, reporting, and integrations as it relates to strategic planning for projects involving EM and related campus partners.

The position also partners and collaborate with OAT staff, other EM operational units, the Division of Information Technology, Institutional Research, Planning (IRPA), and Assessment, Living Learning and Other Special Programs, Campus Recruitment Coordinators, and other campus constituents.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

A minimum of six years of data and assessments management, and data reporting, analytics, and visualization experience in higher education, including three years of training and supervision of employees.

Skills in strategic vision, relationship management, and attention to detail are required. Must be able to promote, and work in, a team environment and must have strong problem-solving skills to provide solutions. Must be able to establish and lead efficient and productive working relationships. Excellent planning, analytical, problem solving, customer satisfaction, communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks. Demonstrated ability to make administrative/procedural decisions, direct complex projects, meet deadlines, assign tasks, track accomplishments, and meet established goals and objectives. Knowledge of federal, State, and university policies and procedures related to data management and reporting. Ability to effectively communicate (verbally, in writing, and in presentation form) ideas, concepts, and outcomes related to enrollment management data. Ability to formulate and articulate principles, policies, procedures, and standards related to financial aid and student enrollment regulations as well as university data privacy. Demonstrated ability in meeting university expectations for providing excellent service to institutional, higher education, and agency constituents, including meeting data reporting compliances. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community and rapidly changing technical and technological environment. Proficient in Excel and SAS EG, or other similar business intelligence tools or statistical programs.

Preferences:

Master’s Degree Preferred.

Prior experience working in Enrollment Management areas is desirable, as well as experience using different business intelligence tools and survey methodologies. Demonstrated project management experience, and proven ability in providing data analytics and assessments to help inform the decision making of senior leadership.

Specific experience with SQL and relational databases strongly desired. Demonstrated experience with database/statistical software, tools, and information retrieval methods, such as: SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Visual Analytics, Qualtrics, Google Looker Studio, Salesforce, Denodo, Tableau, and SQL Developer.

Compensation: $94,400 – $103,000

In addition, the University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health benefits, retirement plan, tuition remission for employees and dependents, 22 days annual leave, 3 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave, and holiday leave.
