Job Summary

The University Registrar provides leadership for the campus community and management of the day-to-day duties in the Registrar’s Office; ensuring that services to the academic units, faculty, students, alumni, and other stakeholders related to enrollment and academic records are delivered in an accurate, timely and professional manner. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM), the University Registrar initiates, develops, plans, strengthens, and implements continuous improvement, innovative processes, technology enhancements, and best practices designed to facilitate student success from enrollment through graduation. The Registrar manages an office of 30, which includes 4 direct reports (3 Associate Registrars, 1 Office and Web Manager).

The Registrar serves as a member of the Directors Leadership Team and is responsible for creating a strategic vision, establishing and maintaining policy, and implementing best practices that enhance customer service and uphold the integrity of academic programs. The University Registrar collaborates and shares information with an extensive group of internal and external stakeholders. The University Registrar will need to have strong knowledge of internal and external curricular process. This position ensures the accuracy and security of all academic records of current and former students; facilitates effective student registration and enrollment; builds secure student data files and sets policies and procedures for their responsible use; maintains up-to-date course schedules, catalogs, and final examination schedules; and manages efficient use of classrooms. This position interprets and enforces policies and regulations of the university and FERPA. The Registrar collaborates with a variety of stakeholders to establish efficient procedures and processes to support student success and is an active participant in the strategic enrollment planning process.

Responsibilities and Duties

The University Registrar provides leadership for the campus community and management of the day-to-day duties in the Registrar’s office, ensuring that services to the academic units, faculty, students, alumni, and other stakeholders related to enrollment and academic records are delivered in an accurate, timely and professional manner. Responsible for creating a vision, establishing, maintaining policy, and implementing best practices that enhance customer service and uphold the integrity of academic programs. Represent the VPEM at University-wide meetings or external conferences as needed; make decisions pertaining to the office; approve budget expenditures, etc.

Develops and implements strategic plans and utilizes technology to facilitate student success; to improve retention, degree progression, and graduation outcomes. Oversee system enhancements and upgrades to the Student Records module. Work closely with OTS Technical staff and provide functional knowledge. Oversee testing and approve installation in Production database.

Serves as the lead student records data steward for the university and the key administrator concerned with the maintenance, integrity, confidentiality, and security of student academic records and compliance with academic policies and FERPA regulations in all schools of the university. Advise/assist the VPEM, Deans, Associate Deans, college committees, Department Chairs and Program Directors on student, curriculum, and policy matters. Assumes other responsibilities as designated by the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:
• Master's degree
• Five or more years of work experience in Student Records, Registrar and/or Higher Education.
• Understanding of academic policies and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of the internal and external curricular process.
• In-depth knowledge of the PeopleSoft Student Records module.
• Training, presentation skills and technical writing ability.
• Technical skills for troubleshooting and assessing software system.
• Problem-solving and conflict resolution.
• Excellent personal and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, strategize and operationalize with a data-driven approach.
• Demonstrated success in supporting and nurturing a diverse student body.
• Experience with promoting and/or supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in Higher Education.
• High-level office and organizational skills.
• Ability to interact with a diverse team and work in a diverse environment.
