Harford Community College has served as an anchor institution in Harford County since its inception in 1957. We are a mid-sized, comprehensive college committed to serving our community through high caliber educational offerings and cultural events.

Our beautiful, 352-acre campus is conveniently located near Baltimore, MD; Philadelphia, PA; Washington, DC; and Wilmington, DE. We offer more than 70 affordable degree and certificate programs to nearly 2,000 full-time and 7,500 part-time students, as well as a wide variety of noncredit continuing education courses to nearly 11,000 students per year.

The Director of Admissions reports to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services and is a key strategic leader for recruitment and admissions, with broad responsibility and accountability for those functions and the Admissions team. This responsibility includes the development and oversight of a recruitment plan and supporting strategic enrollment management (SEM) initiatives.

The Director is expected to use institutional and market data to inform the recruitment and admissions practices of the College. The Director will play a critical role leveraging his/her interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills and understanding of Harford Community College enrollment goals by designing and implementing effective outreach, recruitment, admissions, and marketing plans and strategies for prospective students, successfully tapping into new markets and student populations. The Director will develop and implement the College recruitment plan in support of the SEM Plan. The Director will plan, support, and oversee on-campus and off-campus recruitment events, including expanding the open house and information session offerings. The incumbent also facilitates and oversees international student enrollment by supervising the F1 Visa Program and serving as a Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) or Designated School Official (DSO). The Director will also oversee the transition and long-term management of orientation and onboarding programs, such as new student orientation, the iPrep bridge program, and other first-year experience initiatives. The Director is responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures throughout all admissions and recruitment functions.

Duties include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing strategies and processes for the entire application lifecycle, from interest through enrollment, including targeting specific populations and nurturing leads/admitted applicants to increase yields and enrollment; evaluating and acting on market trends; engaging and collaborating with campus departments in support of admissions initiatives; managing the
daily operations and administrative functions of the Admissions office; overseeing the new international student enrollment process as required by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE); participating on committees, workgroups, and in other activities that align with the strategic goals of the College; and performing other duties as assigned.

A master's degree and three to five years of experience in undergraduate admissions or related recruitment are required. A bachelor's degree with at least eight years of experience may be considered. SEVIS training preferred.

Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to:

Experience managing teams and daily operations, including supervising managers, team members, and mission-critical processes.

Experience successfully developing and implementing recruitment plans and tapping into new populations of students.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with implementing technology within the recruitment cycle, such as the use of recruitment management software, workflow, and mobile technology.

Proven track record in managing and executing small- and large-scale events, such as open houses, information nights, and preview days.

Experience developing, managing, and assessing student orientation, first-year experience, or other onboarding programs for students transitioning to college life.

Demonstrated ability to partner with departments across campus, working with stakeholders, and having a broad-based understanding of the higher education system.

Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges and of their students.
